My HomePod doesn't show up

Make sure the PC and the HomePod are on the same network (guest Wi‑Fi and some office networks keep devices apart). If your network blocks discovery, use Add by IP and enter the HomePod's IP address, which you can find in your router's device list.

"HomePod refused the connection"

In the Home app on your iPhone, iPad or Mac, open Home Settings → Speakers & TV → Allow Speaker & TV Access, and choose Everyone or Anyone on the Same Network. If a password is required for AirPlay, turn it off.

"The speaker can't reach this PC"

The speaker sends small timing messages back to your PC. Windows Firewall rules for SoundHop are added when you install it from Microsoft Store. If you use another firewall or security suite, allow SoundHop there as well.

Is there a delay?

Yes. AirPlay speakers buffer audio before playing it, and SoundHop always asks for the shortest buffer AirPlay allows. That's great for music and podcasts; video may be slightly out of sync with speech, and games will feel delayed. The colored number next to a playing speaker shows your network's round-trip time: green is great, yellow is unstable, red means Wi‑Fi trouble.

Sound cuts out

This almost always comes from weak Wi‑Fi. Move the speaker or PC closer to the router, or connect the PC with a cable.

Another device took over my HomePod

A HomePod plays one AirPlay source at a time. When someone starts AirPlay from a phone, SoundHop steps aside; click Reconnect when you want it back.
